Post-renovation and post-construction cleaning

After builders cleaning in Cyprus

Renovation dust turns up in cupboards, light fittings, and window tracks long after the builders have gone. Independent cleaners in Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca, and Paphos list After-builders as a specialty. You agree the scope, the equipment, and a price with them directly, and fix the date around your contractor's finish.

  • Plaster and tile-cutting dust is lifted from walls, cupboard interiors, and AC units with filtered vacuums and repeated damp wiping.
  • Paint spots, grout haze, silicone smears, and protective film come off glass, tiles, and frames with tools suited to each surface.
  • You settle in advance what counts as cleaning and what stays with the builder, from rubble to external glass above the ground floor.

How it works

Plan your ideal visit

Each section on the right is a “slide” you can skim. Scroll the column to move through scope, fit, and extras without losing your place.

1/4Stages

Builders' clean and final clean

Renovations are usually cleaned in two passes. Be clear which one you are asking for, because the price and the equipment differ.

  • Builders' rough clean: debris swept, bulk dust vacuumed, packaging and offcuts bagged. This is often part of the contractor's job, so check your contract before paying for it twice.
  • Final or sparkle clean: every surface wiped two or three times as dust keeps settling, glass and frames detailed, kitchen and bathroom fittings polished, and floors washed.
  • Leave a short gap between the two. Fine dust carries on falling for a day or two after sanding, and a final clean done too early may need repeating.
  • A touch-up visit a week after you move in catches dust that drifts out of AC units, light fittings, and the tops of door frames.
2/4Detail

Dust, paint and grout haze

Construction residue needs different methods from everyday dirt, and it takes up most of the hours on an after-builders job.

  • Fine dust from plaster, tile cutting, and sanding: vacuumed from the top down with a HEPA-filter machine, then damp-wiped, including inside drawers, on top of wardrobes, and along skirting.
  • Paint drips and cement or grout haze on tiles: lifted with scrapers and a haze remover tested on a hidden tile first. Acidic products stay off marble and terrazzo.
  • Stickers, labels, and protective film on new windows, sanitaryware, and appliances: peeled off and the glue removed without scratching glass, chrome, or stainless steel.
  • Window and sliding door tracks packed with sand and grit: vacuumed, brushed, and wiped so aluminium frames run smoothly and the drainage holes are clear.
3/4Limits

What cleaners usually leave to others

Some post-construction jobs belong to the contractor, a licensed waste carrier, or a specialist. Settle these with your builder in writing so nothing falls between the two.

  • Rubble, broken tiles, plasterboard offcuts, and old fittings: removal and skip hire sit with the builder. Cleaners typically bag light packaging and leave heavy waste alone.
  • Hazardous material such as old asbestos sheeting, solvent tins, leftover chemicals, or loose insulation needs specialist handling and should not be moved by a cleaner.
  • High external windows and glass balustrades above the ground floor need ladders, poles, or access equipment. Ask whether the cleaner has them before adding outside glass.
  • Marble polishing, floor crystallising, and grout recolouring are trades of their own. A cleaner can wash the floor; restoring its finish takes a floor specialist.
4/4Planning

Equipment and timing with your contractor

Ask a few direct questions before you agree a price, then fix the date with the builder instead of guessing when they will finish.

  • Ask whether the cleaner brings a HEPA or M-class vacuum, scrapers, haze remover, a step ladder, and enough microfibre cloths for repeat wipes.
  • Schedule the final clean after the last trade leaves, including the electrician fitting socket covers and the AC installer. Any drilling afterwards brings the dust back.
  • Ask the builder to cover split AC units during sanding. If that did not happen, include rinsing the filters and wiping the indoor units in the clean.
  • Confirm water and power are on, how the cleaner gets in, and where a car or van can park. New-build plots in Limassol and Paphos may still have unfinished access roads.

Frequently asked questions

How much does after builders cleaning cost in Limassol?

It is almost always a flat quote, because the work depends on how much dust and residue the builders left. Send photos of each room, the floor area, and a list of what is new, such as glass, tiles, or kitchen units. A small refit may come close to a one-off deep clean, which starts from around €120. Whole-house post-construction cleans are quoted individually, often after a visit.

When should after builders cleaning be done?

After every trade has finished, including the last electrician, painter touch-ups, and the AC installer. Fine dust keeps settling for a day or two after the final sanding, so leave a short gap before the final clean, then plan furniture delivery or move-in straight after it. A rough clean during the works keeps dust down but does not replace the final one.

Do I need a HEPA vacuum for post-construction dust?

It makes a real difference. Plaster and cement dust is fine enough to pass through ordinary vacuum filters and blow back into the room, and it can clog or burn out a household motor. Ask the cleaner which vacuum they bring and what filter it has. If they use a standard vacuum, expect more repeat wiping and a longer job.

Will cleaners remove rubble and leftover materials?

Usually not. Rubble, offcuts, old sanitaryware, and leftover paint or chemicals are the builder's responsibility or a licensed waste carrier's. Cleaners typically bag light packaging, cardboard, and protective film for the normal bins. Agree waste removal with the builder before the final payment, so the cleaner arrives at a property that only needs cleaning.
